French Polynesia has high technology in maritime navigation. Indeed, there are 39 companies with shipyard activity. Twenty are specialized in naval construction and nineteen companies have repairments as their main activity.
Since 1992, the establishment of a Polynesian shipyard specialized in building fishing boats positioned French Polynesia on the international market. Their knowledge, technology and production ability demonstrates the expansion and dynamism of this activity
In addition, the repairment sector offers a wide range of operations. In fact, the Direction des Chantiers Navals (Shipyard Management), whose interventions are certified by the 9002 ISO norm, assures maintenance of French NAVY ships in Polynesia and New Caledonia.
Having industrial capabilities to undertake all military and civilian ship maintenance, there is no doubt it is a logistic base without equivalence in the south pacific inter-islands area.
